Presents for me!

Today in the car, Drew and I saw a FedEx truck. This is how the conversation went...

Drew: What's in that truck?
Me: That truck carries packages to bring to people. Packages are like presents.
D: Presents for me?
M: Sometimes presents for you.
D: I like presents.
M: Me too.
D: Mama, your presents are shoes.
M: What kind of shoes?
D: Um, brown ones and black ones.

Zoo - again!

So the zoo turns out to be the most fun thing EVER. Last time we were there it was cold enough that the carousel was closed. So I promised Drew that when it was springtime, we would go to the zoo again and he could ride the carousel. Then we talked about the signs of spring so that we would know when to go back. This should stop surprising me but - this kid has a really great memory. The snow melted, the pond completely de-iced and it got warmer. He said something like "Mamma, snow and ice gone - go back zoo - ride merry go round. I ride snake and you ride camel. We go now, mamma."

Back to the zoo we went. We met our friends the Petersons. Too bad no cool pictures of them. Zoey wore her pink princess dress for the occasion.

Thank the gods that the carousel was open or I would have been in the dog house. This is not the greatest picture, but it is at least the carousel. Oh, and he didn't ride the snake since there is no snake. He rode the otter.

Easter

Soooo late posting these Easter photos. We started out with an egg and present hunt in the morning. Then, we went to Oshkosh to see Aunt Kate and Uncle Dread and most importantly - Emma. Grandma and Da met us there. We ate like kings and then drove home in the snow. Why does winter torment me so?

Swimming and such

Drew started swimming lessons this year. They're not going that well. For the most part, Drew doesn't like going in the water and he tries to get out of going to swimming classes. It reminds me of when I was younger and tried to get out of going to church. Yet, when Drew's in his class he does a good job and then says how much fun it was and how he wants to go again. That part is NOT like what happened to me after I got home from church - and what a blasphemous blog entry for just before Easter. Hmmm.

Anyway, he's the one in the green hat and pastel plaid swim shorts. To make note, the shorts were brightly colored plaid when we started swim class. To complete his outfit, Drew is supposed to wear goggles - I'd like to see you convince a 2 and a half year old to wear swim goggles.

Grandma visit

I went to Minneapolis for a work trip on Thursday and Friday so Grandma came to do the babysitting. Thanks Grandma!

Grandma Cat sent early Easter presents! One present is a GIANT chocolate bunny and the other is this new "ocorder". Drew loves it so much that we'll be sure to send it with him every time he goes to visit Grandma.

On a cold day...we go to the zoo!

It's Spring Break only not really spring weather. It was about 35 degrees and cold and Drew took a shitty nap and woke up early - so we went to the zoo. No one else was there, but the polar bears were out and the camels too - who knew camels enjoyed the cold weather? We got quite a show from the river otters. We spent most of our time in the herpaterium where it was warm and was also where all of Drew's favorite animals were housed. The two sad parts about the zoo was that we were not able to find the porcupines (at Drew's request, not mine) and the carousel was closed (curse you winter!). Here are some pics!
